Terms of Service

Shiny Pokes is operated by an individual as a personal project. It is free to use. There is no paid tier, no advertising, and nothing about you is sold. You can reach the operator at support@shinypokes.com.

You must be at least 13 years old. If the law where you live sets a higher minimum age for consenting to online services without a parent or guardian, you must meet that age instead.

You are responsible for what happens under your account. Keep your sign-in method secure, and tell us if you believe someone else has access to it.

“Your content” means anything you post or upload: community chat messages, catches and hunts you make public, your public hunter page, feature ideas, bug reports, support messages, screenshots, and your display name, username, and avatar.

You keep ownership of your content. By posting it, you give us permission to store it and to display it within the Service to the audience your own sharing settings allow — for example, showing a public catch on a leaderboard, or a chat message to other signed-in users. That permission exists so the Service can function, and it ends when you delete the content or your account, except where a copy must be kept for the reasons in Section 7.

You are responsible for your content, and you confirm you have the right to post it.

Shiny Pokes has shared spaces — community chat, the public feed, live hunts, and hunter pages. In those spaces and anywhere else on the Service, do not:

• harass, threaten, bully, or target anyone, including through slurs or hate speech aimed at any group or characteristic;
• post sexual content involving minors, or any sexual content in community spaces;
• post content that is violent, graphic, or intended to disturb;
• impersonate another person, or claim to be staff;
• share other people's private information;
• spam, flood, advertise, or promote scams;
• post illegal content, or use the Service to break the law;
• attack the Service itself: scraping at scale, breaking or evading rate limits, probing for vulnerabilities, or trying to reach accounts, data, or admin tools that aren't yours;
• falsify hunt or catch data to place on leaderboards dishonestly.

Use common sense beyond this list. It describes the obvious cases, not every possible one.

We can remove content and restrict or close accounts that break these Terms. Where it is practical and appropriate we will explain why, and you can reply through support to contest it. For serious cases — anything targeting a person, anything illegal, or anything threatening the Service — we may act immediately and without notice.

We are not obliged to monitor or review content, and we do not pre-screen it. Content posted by users is theirs, not ours, and does not represent the operator.

Shiny Pokes is an unofficial fan project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Nintendo, Game Freak, Creatures Inc., or The Pokémon Company. Pokémon and all related names and characters are trademarks of their owners.

Game data shown here comes from public sources, credited on the Credits page along with each source's licence. Maps and other visuals are our own rendering computed from factual data; no game artwork is reproduced.

You can delete your account at any time from Settings. Doing so removes your account and the data described in the Privacy Policy. Some content may persist where it has to: messages already delivered to another person's inbox, backups until they rotate, and anything we must keep to comply with the law or to handle abuse.

We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, or if running the Service becomes impractical.

Shiny Pokes is a hobby project run by one person on a small budget. It is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. We do not promise it will be available, uninterrupted, or free of errors, and we do not promise the game data is complete or accurate — much of it is derived from community sources, and the Service labels how reliable each dataset is where it can.

Keep your own record of anything you would be upset to lose. We take care with your data, but this is not a backup service.

To the fullest extent the law allows, the operator is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for lost data, lost hunts, or lost profits, arising from your use of the Service. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

We may update these Terms as the Service changes. The “last updated” date above will change, and for significant changes we will give notice in the app. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
